NMAI Archives Tour Fall 2013

Here are candid photos of our late September 2013 visit to the Archives. The Archives pulled for us about 40 Potawatomi heritage objects to examine close up. We also were invited back to the stacks to see many other objects in the collection, including what is being pulled for conservation and then will be displayed as part of the Treaties exhibit that will open in 2015 at the Museum on the Washington, D.C. Mall. Please review the report that is linked under the NMAI Archives Tour Spring 2012 photos for detailed information on the objects and photographs relating to Potawatomi that are in the Archives collection. Thank you to Blake Norton, Archivist and Curator, CPN Cultural Heritage Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma, for his advice in selection of objects. We had CPN citizens and spouses from California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia join for this visit, and thoroughly enjoyed the time together, including lunch before on the Archives grounds. O plan to return annually and hope many of you can join us here on the East Coast for a future Archives visit.
