Orlando, Florida, late March 2014

Thirty of us gathered in Orlando and enjoyed each other's company and instructions and advice -- this was a meeting at which everyone spoke and everyone shared, which pleased me to no end! Tristan was our youngest attendee and immediately bonded with his honor blanket; Kate Jamarillo was honored with a Pendleton travel bag for traveling the farthest; and Stella Malone was gifted two blankets: one (an afghan with the CPN seal) for her work securing the meeting location, and another (a gorgeous aqua and cream Pendleton) for being our wisest Potawatomi in attendance. Here is what one attendee wrote afterward: "We wanted to say thank you for a great Orlando, Florida meeting. As we told you this was our first ever meeting of any kind with the very pleasant and kind Potawatomi group. We were very pleased to get to know you, and the other attendees. Your information was very well received by all, and it was specific and of interest to us all. It is not often you can attend a meeting with such young children present and be able to understand the speaker. Even the children were so well behaved and attentive. The food was great, and it was a pleasure to meet several other transplanted Floridians with Potawatomi ties. We hope to see and hear from you again, and we would ask that you give Rocky Barrett our regards. Thanks again for all of your hard work on behalf of the Potawatomi tribe." Dennis Johnson and his family offered to find a 2015 meeting location on the West Coast of Florida (likely Clearwater), and I look forward to that event, and to the opportunity to visit with my godmother Agnes Barron and various cousins then. Some of these photos are of my visit to Cape Coral family (the Barrons/Deiles and the Lawlesses) sandwiched between a conference presentation and the Orlando meeting. Bama pi (til next time)!
